From behind the counter of his coffee shop, David watched the rain streak down the window. The invitation to his reunion lay buried beneath a stack of invoices, a forgotten casualty of his busy life. But the constant drip, drip, drip of the rain outside seemed to echo a persistent, nagging feeling in the pit of his stomach. His hands were constantly busy, wiping down counters, adjusting the display of pastries, fiddling with the espresso machine.
